About Us

The goal of Winterfest is to provide a venue for people to come out and enjoy winter with others from across the community and beyond. Visitors will get a chance to experience what Waterbury has to offer. Proceeds will be used to expand Waterbury recreation opportunities and support economic growth in our community.

2019 Recipients

CAPITAL SOCCER

AWARDED: $1,000
The grant was used to improve the soccer fields adjacent to the Ice Center.

CLYDE WHITTEMORE LITTLE LEAGUE

AWARDED: $1,000
For capital improvements to the baseball field in Hope Davey Park, Waterbury Center.

THE CHILDREN'S ROOM

AWARDED: $1,360
Their grant was used for their Soccer for Little Feet and Big Toy Night programs.

Green Mountain Performing Arts

AWARDED: $750
GMPA used their grant to initate their storytelling program.

WATERBURY Ice Center

AWARDED: $500
They used their grant to purchase new ice skates.

ODYSSEY OF THE MIND

AWARDED: $600
Their grant is in support of the CBMS problem solving team competing in the International World Competition in Michigan in May.

RIVER OF LIGHT LANTERN PARADE

AWARDED: $1,000
These funds are in support of the mentors and artists providing an opportunity for creative expression in lantern design

WATERBURY AREA MAKERSPHERE

AWARDED: $575
Awarded for work tables and signage at their new cooperative space in Waterbury Village.

FRIENDS OF STOWE ADAPTIVE SPORTS

AWARDED: $1,500
These funds are for helping Waterbury families with permanent disability issues gain access to swimming, paddle-boarding, skiing and snow-boarding.

WATERBURY LEAP

AWARDED: $500
In support of their Walk and Ride to School Day program.

WATERBURY PUBLIC LIBRARY

AWARDED: $1,215
To initate a new snow-shoe lending program.

WATERBURY ROTARY

AWARDED: $500
In support of their Thursday evening Concerts in the Park series.

WATERBURY YOUTH SOCCER

AWARDED: $1,500
In support of their youth referee program, scholarships and equipment upgrades.

CAPITAL SOCCER

AWARDED: $1,500

The grant was used to improve the soccer fields adjacent to the Ice Center. Capital Soccer will challenge a Chittenden County soccer club to a snow soccer match during Winterfest 2019.

CLYDE WHITTEMORE LITTLE LEAGUE

AWARDED: $2,000

The grant was used for a new scoreboard at the Major League field at Hope Davey Park. CWLL will organize a team to participate in broom ball and/or other Winterfest activities in 2019.

THE CHILDREN'S ROOM

AWARDED: $1,120

Their grant was used to run their popular indoor "Soccer for Little Feet" program. They will organize a Weekend Playgroup in the Thatcher Brook Primary School gym during Winterfest 2019.

WATERBURY AREA TRAILS ALLIANCE (WATA)

AWARDED: $2,000

WATA used their grant to improve the flow track near the Ice Center. WATA will participate in a Fat Bike event during Winterfest 2019.

WATERBURY YOUTH SOCCER

AWARDED: $2,000

The used their grant to install new nets at Dac Rowe Park, upgrade their website, and expand access to their youth refereeing program. They plan to organize a snow soccer game for Winterfest 2019.

WATERBURY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

AWARDED: $1,000

Their grant monies were used to assist with repair of the river stone chimneys at CCC Camp Smith and with historical restoration in Little River State Park to enhance the educational and recreational experience of the Waterbury community.

GREEN MOUNTAIN PERFORMING ARTS

AWARDED: $1,300

Their grant supports the launch of a virtual studio. During Winterfest 2019 they will host a Father/Daughter dance.
